The nursing students of KNUST have emerged victorious in a quiz competition organized among university nursing students in the country.
The quiz which formed part of the Annual Delegates Congress 2012 of the University Nursing Students Association of Ghana was part taken by delegates from the major universities across the country. According to the organizers of the annual congress, this year’s edition is aimed at inculcating into the participants the zeal to combat the spread of HIV AIDS and reduce mortality rate in the country. The result of the quiz held at the School of Medical Science auditorium of KNUST, saw the KNUST nursing students emerging first in the competition, the nursing students of University of Development Studies (UDS) placed a second position, University of Cape Coast (UCC) AND Central University College were both third, Garden City University College and University of Ghana won the fifth position with Valley View University College lying at the bottom of the ladder.
A final year nursing student and contestant from KNUST in an interview with Focus News indicated that their feat was attained through hard work, co-operation adequate preparation and reliable teamwork. The other contestants from KNUST include Akyeremu Samuel and Gertrude Konadu Agyeman.
Speaking to the issue, the quiz master who doubles as the president of the National Health Students Association, Mr. Yakubu described the quiz as exciting, educative and fair.
