Central University College halls launched

Wednesday time with the Lord on the various campuses had a different twist on 20th March, 2013. A few minutes past mid day, the President, Vice President (Academic) and Vice President (F&A) officially launched the new halls of residence concurrently at Miotso, Mataheko and Dansoman campuses respectively.

 

Preceding the launch of the halls at Dansoman, Vice President (F&A) emphasised the need for the students to belong to halls. He also encouraged them to participate actively in the programmes of their halls while cautioning them not to forget the reason why they were in School. The purse holder of CUC told the students the hall system was not to divide them but to rather unite them. With this the Vice President (F&A) joined by other officials cut the sod to mark the launch of the halls with shouts of joy engulfing the ceremony grounds.

The sight and sounds were not different from that of the Mataheko and Miotso campuses. The Vice president (Academic) Prof. Adow Obeng Vice-President Academic spoke extensively on the benefits of the new hall system. He challenged the students to fully participate in all hall activities including the forthcoming Inter hall games which would soon be held at Miotso campus. After a short prayer the sod was cut to formally declare the halls system duly launched.

At Miotso, the president, the Acting dean of students, the human resource director, the SRC president and other members of the schools management were all present at the trinity hall for the launch. The president of the school, Prof Yankah, explained that the introduction of the hall system would provide a platform to foster self identity. He promised students of an exciting time on campus with the introduction of healthy sports and debating competitions of which he urged all students to be part of. He cited the establishment of an outdoor gymnasium as a dream soon to be realised. He informed students of the football, basketball and volleyball pitches all being prepared ahead of a sports competition.

At this the president joined by the management team present cut the sod for the official launch of the various halls of residence. This was amidst shouts and screams of excitement from students and all present.

Speaking to some of the students after the ceremony, many expressed their joy about the introduction of halls. One student praised and thanked the president and his team for such an initiative. The SRC president also in a short speech encouraged students to embrace the hall idea with all passion and thanked the management of the school for introducing and launching the halls.
