UMaT wins 2016 European Award for Best Practices

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa has won the 2016 European Award for Best Practices by the European Society of Quality Research (ESQR). The Society recognizes organisations and institutions with outstanding commitment, support and results in quality management strategies.

The European Awards for Best Practices 2016 presentation ceremony took place at the hotel Le Plaza in Brussels, Belgium. Top companies, public administrations and organizations, which excelled in their services/products and continue to push the limits of quality with innovations, received the Awards for their hard work and achievements.

The European Awards for Best Practices program takes a comprehensive look at the initiatives and strategies that business leaders implement in their companies and organizations; it recognizes the efforts of exceptional and talented employers and employees and provides motivation for continuous progress.

Speaking at the ceremony to receive the award, the Vice Chancellor Prof. J.S.Y. Kuma informed the gathering that the award was in recognition of the many best practices the University was applying in the administration of the University such as a strong quality assurance system, best Student-Teacher Ratio, the most compliant of the standards and norms of the National Council for Tertiary Education and the National Accreditation Board, competitive school fees, churning out quality engineers who have made the University proud by proceeding to pursue their PhD studies directly with their first degrees in the University of South Australia (UniSA).

The Vice Chancellor was at the ceremony to receive the award together with Dr Ishmael Quarcoe from the Department of Environment and Safety Engineering.
